After talking about it for ages and making lots of samples, I’ve finally updated the MIY Collection Fulwood pattern to include instructions for how to make the gathered skirt version and pattern pieces and instructions for how to add a neck facing.
One of my denim versions with a faced neckline.
One of my many dresses with a gathered skirt. This one also has a faced neckline.
I have a limited number of updated printed patterns now available in my shop.
This updated version also includes a little Fulwood planning sheet showing the many ways to make your Fulwood, I’m sure the creative sewing community will soon come up with even more! Get your copy of the pattern here.
I’m working on updating the pdf version of the pattern as we speak and if you’ve previously bought the pdf pattern or buy one at anytime before I update it (thank you), you will automatically be emailed the updated version as soon as it’s online.
If you have previously bought a printed paper version of the Fulwood pattern (thank you), here is a downloadable update pack that you will be able to use alongside your existing pattern. Just click the image to download. It is sized to fit on A4 and US Letter sized paper and is an 8 page document. Make sure you print the pages with the pattern pieces at 100% and ensure your printer doesn’t “scale to fit” on these pages.
Seemingly endlessly versatile, you can use the Fulwood pattern to make a 2 piece dress, a one piece dress and a top! If you need a little visual inspiration to get you started, here are just a few of my Fulwood tops and dresses. I’ve just counted and I currently have 12 in my wardrobe, most of which I wear regularly!
This is my latest Fulwood top in gorgeous Ikat fabric designed by and available from Faberwood. This fabric is beautifully soft and a joy to wear.
This was my first gathered skirt version. Yep, I live in it.
Another early gathered skirt version and my first foray into digital fabric printing. Read more about that little experiment here.
Another cool summer gathered skirt version in more dreamy fabric from Faberwood, this one was an African indigo dyed fabric with a wax resist pattern.
My first one piece version in striped ponte Roma from Girl Charlee.
Oh I do love a bit of double denim. This version has a lengthened sleeve (instructions are in the pattern).
If that’s not enough, you can find more inspiration from Fulwoods made by the on-line sewing community using these hashtags on Instagram: #fulwooddress and #miyfulwood
