Sewing Basics for Every Body Book Tour – Day 3 The Rowan Project

sewing basics for every body

It’s the weekend and it’s day 3 of my introductions to the projects in Sewing Basics for Every Body.

Meet Rowan, the classic shirt with 3 collar options, 3 sleeve finishes, 2 hem finishes and yoke options, you’ll be able to create way more than the 5 takes on this project that I came up with……

CLASSIC WHITE SHIRT

With all the classic shirt details:

collar and stand, sleeve placket, cuff, back yoke, covered (fly) button stand and shaped hem.

SHIRT DRESS

Layer it, belt it or just wear it on its own.

SHORT SLEEVED SHIRT

Use it as a blank canvas, I hand painted this one. I just cut out all the pieces from my fabric, then got busy chucking the paint around!

EASY PETER PAN COLLAR SHIRT

An easy way to getting started on shirts, I also printed this fabric, I must have been channelling my inner 80s child when I came up with the design….!!

The flat Peter Pan collar, simple pleated sleeves and unshaped hem are the details that make this shirt less of a technical challenge than the classic long sleeved shirt.

SLEEVELESS SHIRT SMOCK

The separate bib on the front of this version lends itself to a bit of fabric play, I used it to highlight some of my block printed fabric. There’s nothing to stop you trying the bib on any of the other versions of the Rowan too.

Perfect summer holiday wear…..

Thanks for tuning in again today, project number 4 tomorrow!! The jumpsuit…..
