Barley from Fabrications and Riccardo (Great British Sewing Bee series 5) have been on a roll sewing up Zero Waste versions of some of the patterns from my new book Sewing Basics For Every Body.
As you probably all know by now, sustainability is always at the forefront of my mind when I’m making (you can read lots of my thoughts about sustainability in the sewing world here) so I was beyond happy to see these inspired garments.
They’ve both used the Felix pattern…….
…..Barley made this Felix sweatshirt dress in bold solid colours using traditional patchwork blocks. I think it looks like a painter’s modernist canvas and I want one!
Not content with one, she whipped up another based on the Felix hoodie pattern and incorporated whole parts of other sweatshirts:
I mean, genius or what?!
Riccardo stuck with the Felix sweatshirt for both his makes, first up this sporty looking number in ponte roma:
I’m admiring that seam matching Riccardo!
And then this pieced version that has a real urban couture style, I love the use of that silver fabric with the stitching over the top….
Inspired much? I am, I definitely plan to make my own versions.
