Follow Me On
- Still sorting through all the samples that recently came back from the last photoshoot for my new book How to Sew Sustainably 🪡 Note to self: do more of this as a break from all the thinky work!Yay I actually got my sewing machine out this afternoon!! In total I probably sewed about 10cm 😆 every stitch counted though as I was repairing this key case of partner's that originally belonged to his grandmother. Over the decades and through lots of recent use the sides had started to come apart. The leather is really soft and it gets a lot of use so we decided good strong machine stitching would be better than a visible hand sewn mend. Hopefully it now has decades more use in it 💚What's your go-to "pick up / put down" job to keep your hands busy and give your brain a rest?Leftover fabrics from Sewing Basics For Every Body now in a sample in How to Sew Sustainably! ⭕♻️

The weather’s finally turned into winter in the UK, so it’s time to think about warm sewing. Winter dressmaking projects can often be long and complicated, so here’s the antidote – the Parkwood Cowl.
Takes just 1m of fabric and can be made all in one fabric, reversible or with contrast panels.
There’s just one pattern piece with all the variations marked on and it sews up super quick with only 4 pieces, making it great for beginners and an ideal project for your homemade Christmas gift sewing (every year lots of MIY Workshop students do exactly that!).
The Parkwood Cowl is available as a printed paper pattern for £15….
….a pdf instant download pattern for £9…..
….and is also the first MIY Collection Kit!
The kit contains a printed Parkwood pattern, specially selected beautiful quality bouclé wool mix fabric in a choice of burgundy, grey or teal and matching colour thread. Even better it will be delivered to your door beautifully packaged in a sturdy gift box, all for just £55. Perfect if you want to get sewing straight away without worrying about fabric shopping, or the ideal gift for a beginner stitcher.
