Do you hate Christmas shopping? Always leave it until the last minute, get stressed out, buy things in a panic and spend too much money?
I was really happy to be interviewed for Simply Sewing’s feature called “My Favourite Thing” for this month (issue 14).
It’s on the back page and you might recognise one of my shirt refashions for Portia’s The Refashioners project last summer. I chose it because as well as being really pleased with how it turned out, it’s a project that brings together a lot of my interests and values.
Hope you enjoy reading it (click on the image and it will open full size in another window)!
I don’t like to do things by halves. So, when Portia invited me to take part in her fabulous “The Refashioners 2015” project I offered to do not one, but two projects! My first one, the formal bib shirt dress was on Portia’s blog last week.
This week, see how I turned these 3 lovely specimens…….
……into this denim fest!! Read how I did it here.
I love men’s traditional formal dress shirts those with the bib fronts, I think that bib section is crying out for a bit of textilian magic and have had ideas buzzing around for a long time, so what more perfect excuse than the Refashioners?!
I was so happy when super creative refashioner extraordinaire Portia asked me to take part in her project and this one is up on her blog today.
I used one of the patterns from my book “The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking” as a starting point, read all about how I did it.
This one will be up first on Tuesday the 18th August…..
The 4th in my Refashioning series for Sewing World magazine was rather well timed as summer seems to have finally arrived here in the UK!
It’s on pages 84-86 in the July issue which is out now.
Last month saw the end of my “Knits Know-How” series in Sewing World magazine, bit sad as most of you probably know this is one of my favourite subjects. But fear not, it means this month sees the start of a new series all about Alterations!
Here’s the first one from the April issue which is out now, it’s all about how to remove sleeves from a garment including which garments will be suitable to do this to and different ways to finish the armholes.
I hope you find it both useful and inspiring and if it prompts you to do something to one of your old garments, send me a picture!
